Private Lessons with Scott M
Scott M
Scott was drawn to music at a very young age, from rock to jazz to blues. He started trumpet at the age of 10 and performed in many elementary and middle school concerts, later going on to concert, marching and regional band performances in high school throughout northern NJ. But it wasn't until he discovered the guitar at the age of 15 that he found his true calling. By his senior year in high school he was teaching already out of his parents' basement to a few friends and classmates that wanted to learn the instrument. In college he continued to teach part time while studying music theory, performance and composition in various classes. For the next few decades he played in numerous area rock bands, both covers and originals throughout the Lehigh Valley and continued his love of teaching music in various local music establishments.
Scott feels there is no "one correct" way to learn the nuances of such a diverse instrument as the guitar and everyone progresses at their own pace. While some students prefer a structured approach using a method book and sight reading, others function better with a more visual approach using guitar "tabs" ...but either way, daily repetition of fundamental exercises and general music theory work best and are required of the student to get the most from each week's lesson. The main objective is to always relax, have fun and enjoy the process!
